Characterization of free fatty acids photo?oxidation under UV radiations: A stepwise Raman study

چکیده
Lipid peroxidation (LPO) is an oxidative deterioration when oxidants such as reactive oxygen species attack lipids that contain double bonds especially polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). The mechanism of LPO composed three steps: initiation, propagation, and termination. It can result from several reaction pathways: (1) auto-oxidation, (2) enzymatic oxidation, or (3) photo-oxidation. UV solar exposition a major concern in skin research, dermatology, cosmetic science. Skin surface (SSLs) stratum corneum (SC) are among the first components exposed to external insults radiations. Fatty represent lipid class SSLs SC. aim this paper study photo-oxidation under radiations using Raman spectroscopy. Vibrational spectroscopies useful techniques follow its different stages oxidation: initiation step by following CH2/CH3 stretching bands ratio decreases due hydrogen abstraction alpha position; propagation where primary oxidation products formed hydroperoxides, which was evaluated 1165/1640 cm?1 ((?(OH) ?(C?O))/?(C?O)) increases during process; finally, termination marked formation aldehydes, alcohols, ketone, trans secondary products, others, monitored 1730/1640 (?(C?O) (ald.)/?(C?O) (acid)) ?(C?C)/cis ?(C?C) increase indicating products. To our knowledge, work put together spectral descriptors enabling follow, step, modifications free structures process.

Sulfonated porous carbon catalyzed esterification of free fatty acids
The esterification of free fatty acids (FFA) with methanol is studied using Sulfonated Porous Carbon (SPC) as catalyst. In compare to the amorphous sugar catalyst and protonated Nafion, the proposed catalyst shows stability and high efficient performance in biodiesel production. The highest initial rate of oleic acid conversion is obtained at catalyst loading of 1 mmol H+ and mole ra...

متن کاملHigh Free Fatty Acids
Biodiesel is an alternative fuel for diesel engines consisting of the alkyl monoesters of fatty acids from vegetable oils or animal fats. Most of the biodiesel that is currently made uses soybean oil, methanol, and an alkaline catalyst. The high value of soybean oil as a food product makes production of a cost–effective fuel very challenging. However, there are large amounts of low–cost oils an...
متن کاملTitration of free fatty acids
Dole’s titrimetric method for determination of the free fatty acide of plasma has been modified to improve ita specificity. The fatty acid solution which is to be titrated ie first washed with 0.06 per cent H,SO, and thus freed of lactic acid and of an acetone-insoluble material which interferes. With this change, the Dole procedure yields results which agree well with those of Gordon’s me...
متن کاملAntifungal free fatty acids: A Review
Fatty acids are known to possess antibacterial, antimalarial and antifungal activity. The development of resistance of microbes, including fungi and yeasts, towards antimicrobial agents already in use, necessitates the search for alternative antimicrobials, including fatty acids and their derivatives (e.g. methylated and hydroxyl fatty acids). Although fatty acids may not be as effective as che...
